Halloween Mummy Brownies

Fudgy, crackle-topped brownies get wrapped in zigzags of white chocolate “bandages” with googly candy eyes peeking through — the easiest Halloween dessert that still looks like you tried very hard. The brownie base is deeply chocolatey with crisp edges and a molten center, and the white-chocolate drizzle adds the perfect sweet contrast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 6 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • 32 candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Melt the base: Melt the butter and chopped semisweet chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or in 30-second microwave bursts), stirring until glossy. Let cool 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the batter: Whisk both sugars into the melted chocolate, then whisk in the eggs one at a time followed by the vanilla. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until no streaks remain, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  3. Bake: Spread the batter in a parchment-lined 9×13-inch pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 28–32 minutes, until the edges are set and a toothpick in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter). Cool completely in the pan, then lift out and cut into 16 squares.
  4. Mummify: Melt the white chocolate with the coconut oil until smooth. Transfer to a zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and drizzle zigzag “bandages” across each brownie. While the drizzle is still wet, press 2 candy eyeballs into each brownie.
  5. Set: Let the white chocolate set at room temperature for 20 minutes before serving or stacking.

Pro tip: Slightly underbake the brownies — pulling them when the center is still a touch soft is what gives you that fudgy, truffle-like middle instead of a cakey crumb. They firm up as they cool.
