Why you’ll love them

  • All the flavors of a holiday dinner packed into one adorable, handheld bite.
  • Crispy golden edges outside, soft herby stuffing inside, rich gravy over the top.
  • Make-ahead friendly: bake the cups, then add warm gravy just before serving.
  • A guaranteed crowd-pleaser at holiday gatherings and cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 12 slices white sandwich bread, crusts trimmed
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 cups day-old bread cubes
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 1/2 cups warm chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups warm brown gravy
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. Flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin, brush both sides with melted butter, and press into the muffin cups to form cups. Bake 8–10 minutes until lightly golden and set.
  3. Toss the bread cubes with celery, onion, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Pour in the warm broth, add the beaten egg, and mix until just moistened.
  4. Mound the stuffing into each bread cup, pressing gently. Bake 15–18 minutes until the tops are deeply golden and the edges are crisp.
  5. While the cups bake, warm the gravy in a small saucepan until steaming.
  6. Spoon warm gravy generously over each cup, letting it drip down the sides. Shower with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Tips

  • Use day-old bread for the stuffing — it soaks up the broth without turning soggy.
  • Assemble the gravy topping just before serving so the edges stay crisp.
  • Swap in cornbread stuffing for a Southern-style twist.
