This garlic butter grilled shrimp went viral on @huritastyrecipes for one reason: the sizzle. Plump shrimp kissed by the grill, basted in foaming garlic butter with lemon and herbs — smoky, juicy, and gone in minutes.
Why you’ll love it
- 15 minutes from prep to plate
- Big smoky flavor from a simple garlic-butter baste
- Works as an appetizer, taco filling, or over pasta
Ingredients
- 2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice, plus wedges to serve
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry and toss with olive oil, paprika, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Stir the melted butter, garlic, and lemon juice in a small bowl — this is your baste.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high and oil the grates.
- Thread the shrimp onto skewers (or use a grill basket) and grill 2 minutes per side.
- Brush generously with the garlic butter during the last minute of grilling.
- Transfer to a platter, pour over any remaining garlic butter, and shower with parsley.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
Tips
- Soak wooden skewers 30 minutes so they don’t burn on the grill.
- Don’t walk away — shrimp go from perfect to rubbery in under a minute.
- No grill? A screaming-hot cast iron skillet works just as well.
